Our Philosophy

For over two decades, Udisha has stood as a vanguard of social transformation in India. Established as a voluntary, non-political, and not-for-profit organization, Udisha operates on the foundational belief that sustainable development is achieved through the empowerment of communities from the ground up.1 Registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, by the Government of Delhi, our work is driven by a unique coalition of professionals, civil servants, psychologists, educationists, and social activists dedicated to building a more equitable and self-reliant India.1

Our operational philosophy is rooted in a multi-pronged approach that addresses the interconnected challenges of poverty, gender inequality, and environmental degradation. With a significant footprint spanning seven states, Udisha has directly improved over 15,000 lives through more than 15 targeted projects and programs.3 This impact is amplified by our Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), a distinction held since 2007 that allows us to translate our grassroots experience into global policy dialogue.1

Mission, Vision, and Core Values

Education & Employment

Our Mission for education and employment for the forthcoming years is to initiate new programs under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) in collaboration  with NIESBUD and NIIT Foundation etc.

Our focus will remain on the underprivileged youth from slum and rural areas and to make them equipped to get gainful employment. Udisha is involved in providing education and training to the underprivileged youth in both rural and urban areas. Like many other NGOs, we also have some infrastructure but lack in providing quality and structured education to their students due to financial crunch and non-availability of certified & quality trainers.

To address this problem, Udisha has also organized Skill Training Programs in collaboration with Skill Development Centre of Gyan Bharti Shiksha Samiti, our partner Organization. The Training was organised with financial assistance from National Institute of Entrepreneurship & Small Business Development (NIESBUD). During the last six years, we have provided training to more than 5000 unemployed youth in Web designing, Hardware and Networking, Fashion Designing, Retail Management and Security Guards. We have been able to provide training to around 5000 youth, mostly from underprivileged sections of the Society and tried for their placement also in industry or business enterprises.

Udisha has also joined an initiative launched by NIIT Foundation (a not-for-profit education society), which offers services to NGOs focusing on education and training of underprivileged youth. This Basic Computer Training program, offered at very nominal subsidised fee equips teachers and students with the latest competitive modules which are proven effective in the current industry. Students, upon completion of the course are also awarded certification by NIIT Foundation, which helps the NGO in placements of its students.

Using these services of NIIT Foundation and through its own resources, Udisha has conducted Basic Computer Training Course and trained around 1000 under privileged unemployed youth and helped them in finding gainful employment.

Legal Aid

Our association with Delhi State Legal Service Authority has benefitted thousands of citizens in arousing awareness about their legal rights. We have helped them in availing free legal aid also.

We are planning to start a Free Legal Aid Cell for those sections of the society, who are involved in litigation but can't afford the litigation cost.
